The streets are talking, and the ultimate grudge match is officially on! If you thought the drama between controversial street-pop sensation Portable and Nollywood actor Charles Okocha was over, think again. The two entertainers are lacing up their gloves for a highly anticipated celebrity boxing rematch scheduled for July 31, 2026, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Dubbed "Unfinished Business," this headline clash for the Chaos in the Ring event is promising to be one of the biggest entertainment spectacles of the year.
The Backstory: Why Are They Fighting Again?
The intense rivalry between the two dates back to 2023 when Portable accused Okocha of cheating him out of about ₦40 million in a business deal. They took their dispute to the ring at Landmark Beach, where Portable secured a unanimous decision victory after four rounds to claim the championship belt. However, Okocha rejected the outcome, crying foul and alleging the match was rigged, which prompted him to invoke his rematch clause.
Now, the stakes are entirely different. Portable is heading into this fight looking to redeem himself after suffering his first-ever celebrity boxing defeat—a 30-27 unanimous decision loss to streamer Carter Efe, which officially ended his unbeaten run.
Serious Training Camps: Heavyweights and Champions
Both men are taking this bout extremely seriously and have invested in top-tier boxing training to prepare for the July 31 showdown.
Okocha's Camp: The actor has intensified his preparations by training alongside actual elite heavyweight boxers, including the unbeaten sensation Moses Itauma and IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois. Okocha is clearly determined to avenge his previous defeat and has been praised by fans for his dedication.
Portable's Camp: To avoid suffering consecutive defeats, the singer has set up his training camp in Sango Ota under the strict guidance of respected boxing coach and WBA Africa lightweight champion, Taiwo “Esehpo” Agbaje.
A Global Spectacle
Ezekiel Adamu, the CEO of The Balmoral Group, has promised a bigger and more competitive edition of Chaos in the Ring with world-class production. He also revealed that organizers are in discussions with global streaming broadcaster DAZN for a broader collaboration aimed at showcasing African boxing talent to international audiences.
